Bismarck Art & Galleries Association is a non-profit art gallery that is free and open to the public. Every month you’ll find a new exhibit filled with paintings, drawings, sculpture, or fiber arts, created by local, regional and national artists. A few times a year, group exhibits are installed where more than 70 artists may be represented at a time. The gallery is housed in a historic railroad warehouse in Bismarck’s beautiful downtown. Stop in to view art or shop the Gallery Store Tuesday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm or Saturdays 10 am to 1 pm. The gallery is closed Saturdays Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Step into our historic buildings and hear the stories of the people who moved here, built our towns and homesteaded the prairies of North Dakota. These are actual buildings dating from 1875 to 1935 and moved to this site by the Missouri Valley Historical Society for preservation.  They offer our visitors a feel for the atmosphere of the Missouri River Valley during the turn of the last century.  Buckstop Junction is supported by tours, membership, facility rentals, donations, sale from our vintage shop and our annual Corn Feed & Old Settler's Day.

The Capital Gallery, owned and operated by the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation, offers an eclectic blend of traditional and contemporary art in a historic downtown Bismarck building. Featuring artists from across the country, the gallery showcases paintings, sculptures and a variety of other art forms. All of the art is for sale, with proceeds benefitting the Foundation’s mission of “Celebrating History, Art, and Culture!” The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 to 5, at 109 N. 4th Street, and Sundays and after hours by appointment. The Missouri Valley Heritage Alliance-Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation connects residents and visitors to the heritage and history of the Missouri River in central North Dakota. From May-September, we oversee operations of the commercial riverboat Lewis & Clark (www.lewisandclarkriverboat.com) and commercial pontoon Mnishoshe. During January, to help offset the onset of our cold northern plains winters, we help coordinate Vinterfest (www.vinterfest.org): the observation, promotion, perpetuation and acceleration of winter cultural heritage programming with partners in the non-profit, public, and private sectors.

The North Dakota Newspaper Association was founded in 1885 to support and advocate for all North Dakota newspapers. NDNA represents its members and the public in legislative affairs -- protecting the public's right-to-know through open public meetings and open public records.

Gateway to Science is North Dakota’s hands-on science center. Located in the Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex at 1810 Schafer Street in north Bismarck, south of I-94, Exit 157. Families and children of all ages will enjoy the interactive exhibits, programs, and special events throughout the year.

Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 12pm-6pm; Friday 12pm-5pm; Saturday 10am-5pm. The gallery is closed on Sundays.
 
Adult admission is $9, children $6 (ages 4-17). Children under 4 are admitted free with a paid adult admission. Admission with an EBT card is $3 per person (maximum 4 per group.) Memberships are available.

UTTC is a fully accredited college and nonprofit corporation owned and governed by the five Native Tribes located in ND. We provide quality certificate, associate degree, and bachelor degree programs to native and non-native students. UTTC also has a daycare, private K-7th grade elementary school and several wellness programs. Established 47 years ago, UTTC is committed to providing quality post-secondary education and training to enhance knowledge, diversity, and leadership for all nations. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience by exposing all students to some native culture. Every year in September, UTTC hosts a weeklong event which starts with the Tribal Leaders Summit which includes the leaders from the region and the nation to share successful models that are addressing critical Native issues. We are also home to the UTTC International Powwow, and have been named one of the top 10 powwows, by the Indian Country Today Media Network and USA Today.

The University of Mary Music Department produces many concert events from September through April; most events are free and open to the public.  Christmas at Mary occurs the second weekend of December in the stunning Our Lady of the Annunciation Chapel.  An annual Jazz Festival and Concert take place the last week of January each year.

The Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus’ mission is to foster, develop, and share a passion for choral music. We inspire community appreciation through masterful choral performances and are dedicated to artistic excellence and educational enrichment. Since its inception in 1977, the chorus has expanded from a single concert to a season of concert events, including An Evening at the Opera, An Evening on Broadway, the Christmas Concert, and the Spring Concert. In addition, the chorus regularly performs major works with the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra and the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra, including "Carmina Burana", Mozart "Requiem", Vivaldi "Gloria", Schubert "Mass in G", and concert versions of "Peer Gynt" and "Carmen.” FMI contact [email protected]
 

The Bismarck-Mandan Orchestral Association began as the Bismarck-Mandan Council for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. In 1974 the Chamber Orchestra presented a successful three-day residency in Bismarck and wanted to make Bismarck their first Regional Home City.
 
By late 1975 interest was growing to start an orchestra in the Bismarck-Mandan area. The Bismarck-Mandan Orchestral Association was formally organized in February 1976 as a non-profit tax-exempt corporation founded as a sponsoring organization for the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra.

The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) is a service and program agency of the state, established in 1967 by the State Legislature to develop the arts and to promote and support the arts in North Dakota. Grant funds are made available by the National Endowment for the Arts and appropriations from the state of North Dakota. It is the mission of the North Dakota Council on the Arts to promote, preserve and perpetuate the arts in North Dakota.

Northern Plains Ballet (NPB) dba Northern Plains Dance is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in Bismarck North Dakota. Its professional training facility, known as the Northern Plains Dance Academy (NPDA) provides dance training for students ages 3 to adult. Its professional dance company, known as Northern Plains Ballet (NPB), provides opportunities for the communities in the Bismarck area to directly experience and understand dance performance's power to communicate aspects of the human experience, while simultaneously providing children in the NPDA with an opportunity to gain performance experience in a professional production. The mission of Northern Plains Dance is to provide the region with quality performances and community outreach programs through a professional ballet company and training center. The vision of Northern Plains Dance is to be recognized as a world-class performing arts organization committed to the region's cultural and artistic development.

We provide opportunities for children of the Bismarck-Mandan area, ages 6-16 to develop and show off their talents on the stage. From summer theatre productions to acting workshops and lessons, our mission is to provide as many children who are interested an chance to experience the lifetime thrill of performing in front of their family, friends and community. The United Tribes Art Gallery displays around 500 pieces of Native American art from various artists and tribes nationwide and in Canada. The United Tribes art collection began about 40 years ago and represents about 70 to 100 different tribes. It is on the United Tribes campus just south of Bismarck Airport on Highway 1804. THE BIG ONE Art & Craft Fair consists of 4 shows in North Dakota with over 350 different exhibitors showcasing their hand made items to thousands of consumers. Items you will see at each show are handcrafted wood furniture and decorative pieces; photography; pottery; jewelry; variety of floral arrangements to accommodate all tastes; flavorful foods including baked goods, soups, dips, jams, jellies, breads, salsa, spices, candies, and wonderful desserts; creative and comfortable clothing pieces for all ages; hand made soaps and lotions made from various natural resources; unlimited baby items from blankets to bibs and everything in between; hand woven rugs; home sewn quilts and blankets; wind chimes; 3-D photography and artwork; and hand made toys.  For over 35 years, THE BIG ONE Art & Craft Fair has been providing the best setting for the crafters/bakers to the consumers.
