Bismarck-Mandan Convention & Visitors Bureau Launching Mobile Savings Pass to Drive Business to Local Members

The Bismarck-Mandan Convention & Visitors Bureau (BMCVB), the official tourism organization for Bismarck and Mandan, is launching the Bismarck-Mandan Savings Pass, a new program that aims to drive business to local members of the BMCVB. In the past a printed version was available, but for 2021 they are moving full digital.

The passport is a free program that all visitors and locals can sign up for. With local member businesses included within the passport, it showcases the best of the Bismarck-Mandan in an easy, mobile-friendly way.

Sheri Grossman, Bismarck-Mandan Convention & Visitors Bureau CEO said, “As we look for ways to help our community recover, we are pleased to bring this new program to Bismarck-Mandan. We are optimistic about this opportunity to increase business for our members, while offering a service to our visitors and local citizens. Visitors inject a lot of money into our economy and we want to help our businesses find the best way to reach this audience and also increase local traffic.”

Conversations around driving more business to local members began this summer and led the BMCVB to reach out to a well-known technology company in the travel space, Bandwango. Bandwango technology is designed to support free and paid experiences created by destinations and marketed to visitors and locals.

Using this technology, the BMCVB began working alongside local member businesses to get their offerings loaded into the Savings Pass.

Kelly Churchill, Marketing Specialist with Mandan Parks & Recreations said, “Raging Rivers Waterpark is excited to have the opportunity to participate in the Bismarck-Mandan Savings Pass again for the 2021 season. We hope the new mobile passes are convenient for our patrons and help to drive locals and visitors to the Mandan Waterpark!”

Once launched, visitors and locals will be able to visit a dedicated mobile passport landing page where they can sign-up for their Bismarck-Mandan Savings Pass by providing their name, e-mail address and mobile phone number. A link is then sent to their mobile phone, which opens the passport and directs the user to add the button icon to their home screen, where they can access it any time. There is never anything to download and no bulky apps take up space on a user’s phone.

Once they are ready to redeem their pass, they simply show their phone with the offer at the checkout counter to access the savings.

Grossman noted, “In addition to customer ease, the passport offers great flexibility for the business offering the discount. Businesses can have multiple offers with different stipulations on each.”

Merchant onboarding is still in progress. BMCVB members wishing to be a part of the pass can call 701-222-4308 about being included. Non-members wishing to be included can contact Laurie Cain regarding joining the CVB and being included on the passport.

Grossman added, “Although we aren’t seeing a lot of visitors right now, this will position us to be ready as the volume increases. In addition, our residents can start using it immediately.”

The pass is expected to launch in early January 2021.
