Dakota Night

Fort Abraham State Park
Delegates are coaxed into the western spirit by receiving a cowboy hat and bandana upon arrival at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. Start off with a tour of the Visitor Center, On-A-Slant Indian Village, restored commissary, granary, barracks and the home of General George Armstrong Custer. The exploration continues with a stop at the 7th Cavalry block houses. Finish with a western-style pitchfork steak fondue.

A "Stately" Reception

State Capital
Kick off your gathering with a gala reception held in the Memorial Hall of the North Dakota State Capitol. Delegates can tour the House and Senate chambers, the Roughrider Hall of Fame and the 18th floor observation deck while enjoying refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. A jazz group will set the mood.

Frontier Army Stampede Dinner

Get ready to take a trip back into the 1800s, along the scenic banks of the Heart and Missouri rivers, to historic Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. At Fort Lincoln, browse around in the commissary storehouse and watch the infantry or the Seventh Cavalry perform military drills. Then, sit down to an authentic North Dakota meal, such as a buffalo barbecue.

Add An Historical Twist

Heritage Center
Let the North Dakota Heritage Center set the stage for your lunch or reception. The state museum was designed by the Smithsonian Institute and houses the largest collection of plains Indian artifacts in the world. The mezzanine is perfect for small continental breakfast or reception. The lawn provides a relaxed picnic setting for a summer lunch and the auditorium is an ideal setting for your awards presentation or opening ceremony.
